Details of the Tour:
Room in the van will be limited so packing light will be important. Most days will be warm and sunny until storms initiate. So make sure to bring suntan lotion and sunglasses. You will need clothes for 10 days, including both shorts and pants. Toiletries, any vitamins, medicine you may need, and a jacket for when we get into cool outflow from the storms. Two pairs of shoes, in case one pair gets wet from storms. Swim wear for swimming in the pools at the hotels. Bring a garbage bag for used clothes. Put most of your liquid toiletries in zip lock bags, this is due to pressure changes as we move up and down the central plains. The liquids have a way of getting out of containers.
The price of food is not included in the weekly fee for tornado chasing. Eating depends a lot on how far we have to drive. If we need to “Make Time” and have long distances to drive to get into the battle zone, we will be eating plenty of fast food. Sit down meals at restaurants are only when time permits. A cooler will be kept in the van with water and beverages for while we are driving. Weather Gods inc. will find some snack foods that you as our customer will like that will tide you over when in full chase mode. This is due to the timing of the Weather Gods. Most tornados occur in the afternoon and early evening caused by heating of the day, right when it should be dinner time. So on most chase days we will be looking for storms to fire up or will be chasing on storms already late in the afternoon. This forces us to have late dinners and necessitates the snacks.

In addition to these name brand restaurants, we have found some good mom and pop stores that serve excellent food. We try to rotate through to different restaurants so that we will have a variety of food. Some times it will even be necessary to eat in the vans on the road when we are really pinched for time.
Weather Gods tours does not include food in the price of the tour.
Weather Gods has no routine day. Our tour is literally at the mercy of the Weather Gods. Some days, if we are lucky, we will be close to the area that we are targeting for tornado chasing in the afternoon. Quite often we will be getting up early based on the forecast the night before, driving to a target area and making adjustments during the day as we download information on the road.
While out on a weekly tornado chase we will be on the road a considerable amount of time. We will be driving between 3000 and 5000 miles in 8 days. So if you get motion sick, tornado chasing may not be for you.
Weather Gods will pay for the hotels/motels that are used while out chasing. We will stay in Holiday Inn Express, Days Inn, Comfort Inn, basically any nice looking, clean and comfortable hotels. We have been around the plains states for years and know where the better hotels are located.
You will be responsible to fly into Kansas City on Friday evening, and fly home the following Sunday afternoon. There will be a shuttle available to pick up from the airport and take you to the hotel.
